Why Panchakarma is Important in these Times.

There is something important about the current health situation that’s not being addressed which is the health of the Srotas. Ayurveda explains that Srotas are pathways/channels/ducts that are part of the body’s detoxification and communication systems. When these pathways get clogged or contaminated this can lead to illness, injury, disease and death.

Most of us have been focusing on building immune strength which is always a nice thing to do but if you’re chugging vitamin D, C, zinc, etc and the body’s channels are blocked it’s not going to make much of a difference in the state of one's health or resilience to outside “invaders."

There are MANY factors that are involved with having clear open channels here are just a few general tips to get you on your way…

  • Become an epic deep sleeper!

  • Reduce toxins (household chemicals, highly processed foods, glyphosate, EMF/EMR, pharmaceuticals, pollution, emotional and mental stress).

  • Eat at the same time each day, don’t skip meals and try not to graze.

  • Avoid cold or frozen food/drinks.

  • Cook with high quality and fresh spices.

  • Pranayama (Breathwork)

  • Appropriate Exercise

  • Appropriate heat therapy

  • Meditation

  • Love, laughter and joy!

And within these tips there are endless details which are unique to each individual person! One of the many reasons Ayurveda is so awesome is because it addresses the uniqueness of humans.

This leads to another reminder about the Srotas, which is that depending on the individual there are times when doing a deeper detoxification protocol is favored and/or required to open the pathways. This deep cleansing and clearing of the body’s channels is called Panchakarma.

Typically, in autumn or spring is when we do a “preventative” panchakarma for people who are already in a state of general balance. When there is a state of imbalance Panchakarma can be done at almost any time after a thorough Purvakarma which is the preparatory process in order to make sure the body is strong enough for the main detox protocol. And always it’s important to know that no Panchakarma is complete without a rejuvenation period at the end in order to strengthen Ojas (immunity/strength) so that the channels can remain clear when one returns back to their regular routines. Panchakarma has been my passion since 2010 and continues to inspire me with each Rogi (client) who moves through this ancient process. If you have more questions about Panchakarma please reach out. I have a complimentary discovery call you can book in throughout the website.
